Welcome! I am so happy that you are here! My name is Olga and I live in Melbourne, Australia.
I live on a standard suburban block with my husband and two teenage children. We have been living in Australia for 16 years. We moved from South Africa, where I grew up, but I was born in Poland. My husband is born in Mauritius. Our family is like the United Nations, as each one of us has been born on a different continent!
I left my career as an audit manager in a large accounting firm when we moved to Australia, as I always wanted to be a stay at home mum. Family has always been the most important thing to me and we made many sacrifices to be able to live on one salary for all these years. My husband is my best friend and we have always been a team. He is the bread winner, I am the keeper of the home, chief financial officer and family couch therapist.
Over the years, I have qualified as a yoga teacher and an Ayurvedic health coach. I am a life long learner and am always finding ways to improve my life! I have dealt with a lot of illness, including Hashimoto’s, adrenal fatigue and post natal depression. I have overcome all of this using holistic health techniques. Whilst I am grateful for Western medicine, I feel blessed that I have not had to resort to it to resolve my health challenges.
Years ago, I stopped attending mass in the Catholic church and explored all the other religions out there. Being Polish, I never stopped identifying with being Catholic, and have always had a deep connection to Mother Mary. However, I somehow felt that I was “too smart” for organised religion, so only attended church for Easter.
In the last year and a half, I found my way back home to the church. I feel so blessed to have been on the journey of self discovery, as I now feel so deeply connected to all the wonders and traditions of Catholicism. We are have started celebrating being Catholic in our home through living the liturgical year.
Some interesting things about me:
If I could only watch one show for the rest of my life it would be Downton Abbey. I adore that time period, the manners people had and of course, the Dowager Countess is my spirit animal.
My favourite ice cream flavour is pistachio, I rarely order anything else.
I first travelled solo when I was 17. I travelled by bus from Poland to London to spend time with my childhood friend who was there on a gap year. It was so fun and I don’t remember being scared. I have always been ready to be a grownup!
When I die, I would like my heart to be buried in Poland, just like Chopin.
My fondest childhood memory is swimming in the backyard for hours on end. I love the water. It is something I am sad I was not able to give my own children.
My name means “Holy”. I have always been in love with God and all things holy – be mindful of what you name your children!
I hope that you find inspiration and hope here.
